Hey everyone, I am a novice fisherman and I am just looking for some recommendations on where to go at this time of year. I am not too picky on the fish, I am just looking to get out there! I have looked around and the Credit river seems to be a popular choice, just not sure if this time of year is the best? Thanks for any tips!

South of the 403 on the credit is pretty good these days...I did OK on Thursday with suckers and chubs but no trouts at all.... but still had a lot of fun with them...BTW, chubs are usually small...really small like the size of a small banana with 1/5 of of its weight...lol

Hey rightonQ. I thought I would check in as I have fished the Credit for 40 years. Above the 403 is indeed a sanctuary for another couple of weeks so don't touch that .
Below the 403 which is currently open contains almost everything. I haven't been out that way this year but am sure the Steelhead, Carp and Suckers are in. Check seasons on anything I mention here, but in the slower water where the river nears Lake On. over the years I have caught Cats, Channels and Bullhead, Bowfin, Perch, Sunfish, Smallies (which I know are closed and must be released immediately), Pike (not sure the season on those.) and of course Salmon in the fall.
I have also landed Gar on 2 occasions there and years ago landed an American Eel (which I believe has no open season in On.)
GL, put a worm near the bottom and you never know what you will get. I have even landed 3 Snapping Turtles in that area fishing a worm on rod and reel. Not sure about the regs. on those either, I just cut my line when I get them close and I still have all my fingers  .

Alfie, you certainly have a lot more experience than me. Wouldn't you say that the most likely things that are going to get caught right know would be chubb, suckers and steelhead?

LOL Spinnin. I did mention Chrome and Suckers. Chubb is just one thing that is not on my Radar. They are a pain for me, much like Gobies, but at least a creek chubb is a native fish.
