Almost a 2 minute fight it was awesome, and I usually do a relatively slow retrieval, but of course enough where the blade spins perfectly, But a few time when Have a bad cast or something and just reeling in super fast to hit a better spot, a few fish have hit it! Great lures, The only thing I use for smallies in a river are different kinds of spinners like Mepps 2,3 and 4, also boo-yah or strike king spinner baits. On abu-garcia revo bait caster, I could toss them all day long!!

Sweet fish, I too use only Mepps and poppers in there to target Bass. And I use the same one you have there. But mines dressed with black.

Nice man! Got out to the grand today as well for an hour or so. Caught 2 bass about 1.5-2pounds or so, and my first grand river walleye, about 2.5 pounds. All caught on tubes.

Sick!

Mepps are good for not getting snagged though because they sit under the surface of the water. Depends on how fast you react to reel in.

Nice bass! That sure is a Goliath smallie. I love Mepps for stream fishing, they catch about 50% of my river/stream fish.

just whatever you do don't rig up those mepps spinners when there's stuff to get snagged on cuz u won't see them again. :)
Lol I think I get snagged once every 4-5 times I go. Mepps and spinners are my choice for fishing along weed beds and rocky areas, best lure out there in my opinion!

Fished the grand around fergus the other day and got 2 browns 12&14" ,3 smallies 2@14"&1@16" and my third walleye 12"on the grand all in the same hole on a leach pattern fly fishing :) I fished almost a km of the river with no avail then I found this hole eroded under a cliff face with over hanging trees .. It screamed fish here !!!

In the last 3 weeks I have probably caught 20 huge smallies on mainly buzz bait (black and red) and some on the skitter prop. Usually drive down to my favourite river when I get bored with the piers, and love to fish on the surface this time of year. I catch them on any of those Mepps quite a bit too, if I make the blade make a bit of a "wake" when retrieving.

i like mepps too, i have small, med, large It can get snagg easily but depends on your reeling ratio, how deep the water is or how fast the current = lots of fish.
