probably took too long to check the trap. was the bait still there? if it was, then that would mean there was lack of minnows present.
if it were me, i would check a few hours later. as the minnows find the food, they go nuts and congregate around the source...after the food is gone, they disperse and in something like a plastic bottle, some will definitely find their way back out.

the mud and rocks on the ice in the winter should have no effect on the minnow spawning activity. once the ice melts, it would just settle at the bottom, becoming part of the substrate.

give it a couple days and when the water levels and clarity return to normal, try again.

i've have used the same plastic bottle trap without bait berofe and still caught them, and the problem with the mud and rocks settling on the bottom is that it might have burried the plants or whatever they spawn on, last year the water was thick with themby late april ,that is when i started paying attention to the pond so i don't know what happened before that

i'm going to go check the pond and trap now, hope i get minnow, i set the trap last night

no luck, i guess i'll wait another week or two, then get out the fishing rod!
 
(To Balapickerel) Which pond did you go to? The reservoir leading to the reserve behind all the houses or...?
 
really? wow i thought there was only minnows back there! :) plus lol how did you even know where Soni's house was?
 
Ohhhhhhhhhhh! I thought so! Thats the Josh Sonia was talking about! I knew there had to be some connection, how many Josh's are there n this neighbourhood?
 
went and checked the minnow trap, and i got about 8 minnows and two crayfish, i tookpictures of some, here they are, could someone please identify it
