If you drop in at Port Maitland pier - you'll only be able to go to upstream to just below the dam(s) at Dunnville.
If you drop in at Dunnville at the public ramp just above the dam you can go quite a distance towards Cayuga..... but not all the way.
Above Cayuga up to Caledonia's dam is pretty much kayak, raft, or canoe water.......... even then it can be a walking/wading deal in mid summer.
Above Caledonia dam there is power craft navigable water again - I havent done this entire strech (only a few miles) so I not sure how close to Brantford before the bottom comes up.
