the Diawa has made in China slapped right on the back of the reel seat as shown in Alan's review. I just picked up the KastKing Kodiak this season, it is a reel designed and made in China and so far after a few trips I have to say it is the best spinning reel I own. I have shimano saros, shimano sahara, diawa revros and the KastKing is easily better than all of them. The only downside is that it is pretty heavy but that is to be expected when you use metal instead of plastic.
You can hear the drag sing in this recent Laker video I made, reeling in against these big fish was so smooth. This reel is $100 by the time you factor in exchange so I had high expectations, they also offer a bunch of lower cost reels but I cant vouch for those.

Kast King is better than Shimano ! LOL, I love it !
I think Sh tmano (shimano) is overpriced, overhyped, CRAP !
Daiwa revros, yes all the companies made low medium range general use consumer products !
Yes most reels are made in China,
Most of these reels will work fine for most light freshwater fishermen.
If your a avid fishermen, you might wear it out or break it sooner than you hoped
I use Quantum Cabo, PTSE40, 50, 80,120 & Daiwa BG1500, 2500. & Penn Spinfisher SSV & Battle ll Spinning Reels.
(All made in China).
Penn are lower grade, You can feel the difference on both cast & retrieve instantly.
All 5 Penn's up for sale on St Croix sticks
Made in America spinning reels start at $400us Van Stahl,150.
I only have 3 Made in America Reels
All being Conventional Lever Drag Reel's, Avet EXW50/3, & Siegler, SG, & LG.
My Posiedon Reels. (Canada/US Importer/Distributer).
"Conventional open frame Lever drag,
I import direct from Posiedon Head Office in Thailand,
Reels are "Made in China".
I have researched & tested them myself for 8 months before making any purchases.
Just as solid as Accurate, Daiwa, Avet, Penn, Siegler & Sh tmano,
I'm primarily a saltwater fishermen & I get a lot more pressure on my reels than freshwater fishing.
Also the saltwater fish tend to run a lot farther,
I need lots of line capacity, which freshwater spinning reels seriously lack, & lots of drag power "Carbon fiber drag".
I don't want both saltwater & freshwater Reels.
So I travel back & forth with most my reels. Rods stay were they are.
My little Daiwa's are way over powered for my freshwater needs
There's enough drag on the BG1500 17lbs to catch large Pike,
(providing the rod can handle it).
No problem, Just point your rod towards the fish with just a little bend on the tip,
& use your drag power to crank the pike in,
Don't use the rod to fight the fish you'll break your rod, & you'll wear yourself out, hurt your back.
Use your drag, that's what it's for !
I can use a Cabo 50, weighing 14grams w/280meters 40lb braid for live bait & switch trolling for Sailfish.
Cabo 40 = 4000 series most reel manufacturers & Cabo 120 = 12000 series reels
Cabo 40 has 35lbs drag, Cabo 120 has 65lbs drag Lots of headroom.
Lots of reels claim high drag power but can the frame handle it ?
Not likely, as seen from in rymobot's photo
All I'm saying is you get what you pay for.
Don't try to pin me on Made in China !
I did say, (The Unknown Brands)
"Buyer Beware"
I know my Brand Name reels won't let me down on my next Sea Trout, Snook or Yellowfin Tuna.
They all have been tested & reviewed by alanhawk.com
Good luck with your new KastKing Kodiak Reel !
Keep use updated, "Please".
Open it up & do a review after 1 year use ???
Tight lines
