Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

well, I just had an interesting time at Home Depot and Rona...

Apparently PVC pipe is very expensive. To build a 3.5' rod holder it would have cost $20... when a proper one only costs $32 from LeBaron and I could buy something THERE for just a little bit more....

So depressing, why would PVC cost so much!!

Check it out, this guy did it for $4... http://globalflyfisher.com/rodbuilding/diytube/

Wow that is alot of information to take in seems like a crazy learning curve. Keep it up buddy! And get us all a huge fish!

Tangled Spool, big thanks my friend for that great advice!

i still dont' get it.... are we casting wooden plugs from the party boat? :S. How deep are these tuna LOL... *confused*

On anther topic..I just had a look at my suitcases... and my 2 piece 7 foot bass rod won't fit in any of them! We're only taking 2 suitcases so we have 2 extra pieces of bagge.

Air Canada:

When packed separately, each of the following counts as one piece of baggage towards the maximum number of checked bags allowed by your fare type:
fishing rod in rod case + tackle box
tackle bag + reels
landing net
boots
Waivers / Charges

Fishing rod in rod case:
No oversize or additional piece charges apply to a fishing rod in its case if it is carried with a tackle box.

All other additional checked baggage rules apply.

Packing instructions

The fishing rod(s) must be packaged in a rigid and/or hard shell container specifically designed for shipping.

Hmm..... what about a PVC pipe... I doubt that would count! ... and there's no number to call!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LOL

Hey MichaelAngelo,
sorry I forgot to mention...everything is trolling.... plugs and squid need to be trolled for the tunas and barracudas unless you hit a school, stop the boat and start to cast.
Snappers (big ones) will eventually hit a lure when trolling but I've had more success when deep jigging.
these are the tunas magnet plugs:

And these are the squids (skirts only) - you need to pair them with the sinkers and hooks of your preference:

this one is my favourite; it's really cheap and it comes with everything ready to go:

But, in the rush you are I guess you might wanna go with this tuna/dolphin kit (dolphin=a.k.a mahi mahi):

You can hit 2 birds with a single shot.....I mean 2 fish

Good luck man, oh how I wish I could go there again......

BTW, it sucks with Air Canada and all those regulations but there is no other way I guess....I think you can email the charter guys and ask them if they provide you with a complete set of tackle including lures...could be a bit more expensive but prolly worth the hassle....rod holders are included in the package just in case you ask...
