Campbellford Fishing

I'm on my way out to Campbellford the third week in July. I understand that the trent runs through the area.
Anyone know what the waters are like?
I know that the primary targets are Bass Pickrel and Musky, but what are the waters like?
I love all types of fishing, so any techniques or info is appreciated.

and now pike according to a member report from last summer. (reports sections are temporarily down)

I haven't personally fished Campbellford, but I visit the town whenever I'm up at the cottage @ Rice Lake. Nice little town! (Check out the cheese factory, the chocolate factory and the micro-brewery)

As for fishing, I have fished in Hastings, just up the waterway from Campbellford. I've done quite well on the smallies just below the bridge in town.

I used to go to the park on Queen Street (Campbellford Community Park, Google seems to think its at 6105 Queen Street) about 10 years ago, Bass, Perch, Sunfish and even brown bull head were common for us shore fishing, on the other side of the river if memory serves there is a boat rental place for fishermen. You must fish either the south or the north ends of the park, as right in the middle there is a small beach area. Fish don't seem to be spooked by the swimmers though as they are mainly kids and were not swimming around much.

Nice area to take the kids, there are covered park benches, and when we would go, they allowed BBQ's.

The waters of the trent are varying depending on where you fish. For the most part though, the main parks and public fishing areas have rather slow moving, deep waters. You'll catch a lot of pan fish and the occasional smallie from shore. If you're fishing from any of the locks' the waters can be very turbulent with extremely rocky bottoms (easy snags). I've been fishing the area for years now, and the best producer for bass and pickrel has been around the public access areas near the generating stations.

I used to fish Percy's Reach which is in that area. It's great for pike, bass and muskie.
It has a variety of cover to fish but it's weedy for the most part.
