Would it be a smart idea to canoe fish on Lake Ontario. And is it possible to get close or even inside the island?

A canoe on lake Ontario would never stay afloat with the weight of the skippers huge brass balls.

just kidding, if you are experienced and know how the weather really well you might get away with it. I know people take their yaks out on huron here on calm day but I donno how far they go from sheltered areas or shore. Might be better off in some smaller water.

I've taken mine to the island, but unless you are experienced, I don't recommend it. Remember... you are on a small craft With often yahoo boat dudes around. You have no radio and little markings.

I often tell people that if they are uncomfortable standing in a canoe, they probably lack the experience needed For big water.

You may, however, be able to take your canoe on the ferry. I've never tried...

I'm pretty experienced and would only really attempt getting to the island on a really calm day, I would never open water fish on lake ontario unless it was in a sheltered bay/marina/boat launch or something.
