Is catfish part of the carp family? cause I've seen a few sick/dead catfish around the lakes where I fished.

thanks for the update. not that i really want fish to die, but it seems a lot better than i can fish at a dam without these carp swarming in so that all the other fish disappear for a few seconds. another problem that i dont like them too mcuh is because i usually use an 8# XL mono which cant take these fish. i remember that they stole one of my rapala's a couple years back

when we went to Rice Lake 2 weeks ago, there were many dead carp bodies floating in the water... not a very good sight =/
glad they figured out thet cause behind it though...

and wow that's right. can't imagine the mess that would (literally) surface at the Toronto Islands if the problem were to spread to Lake Ontario!!!

So does any1 have update of carp die-off.Is it stopped or still going on.i remember few weeks ago i went to Lake Simcoe(Beaverton) and they were tons of carp dead and water was stinking bad.I wonder how the smell is right now id die-off didn't stop

That is too bad, but C&R is the only ting that I would be doing with carp anyway. Does anyone eat carp?

Not sure if Carp becoming an endangered species would be such a bad thing they are not native to North America they were brought here by the European Settlers but it would be a blow for the Carp fishermen community out there. However that said I hardly believe that this will happen.
