Does anyone know if there's any ponds with carp in Mississauga? I want to try some fly fishing for Carp this spring but I'm not really aware of any ponds that would be a decent try. Don't have to be big carp, but at least plentiful and hopefully not too busy of a pond. (Nobody likes to get a stray hook in the cheek!)

There's Centennial Park.

Hey Ecchi

I found this which lists a bunch of ponds and how some people did, this should be of some help to you. You should be able to locate a carp or two in some of these ponds. Lake Aquitane is another good bet, I live right on it pretty much and I've seen a few big carp but mostly small pan fish and catfish

Fly fishing for Carp is fun, actually fly fishing for any species is fun!!

Good luck

Little add on question to this topic.

Anyone know if it's frowned upon to wade in city ponds or if I should just go for it?

I know it sounds pretty silly but there's so many more spots to fish when you don't have to hunt out spots that you can actually cast from on shore.

As far as I'm aware most city of Toronto waterbodies have 'no swimming' 'no boating' and 'no skating' signs posted, but i've never seen 'no wading'. I'd say give it a shot until someone official tells you otherwise. Fly fishing for carp is definitely easier if you're wading.

In reference to the original post: The humber bay ponds down by Mimico have plenty of space for back casting and a very healthy carp population.
