I don't think these fish would be considered an eating fish, they are basically an overgrown goldfish.

Very well written and informative blog. The general public often has no idea about the difference between a native and non-native fish, hopefully the blog gets some good traffic!

Great pics as well, its a shame the goldfish are present there but you might as well enjoy it if they are there.

Thats insane, I have never released any of my pet fish as a child. I do remeber reading that common gold fish will grow in relation to size of tank you have. I had bought 2 feeder gold fish (0.11$/each) at pets mart when I was 14. A year later they were just over a pound each, huge in a 10 gallon tank. They both died shortly after.

I had no clue they could survive in cold water!

Well on the light outfit I was using, they put up a good fight.. 4lb fireline... But I definitely would not eat them! lol.. THat pond didn't smell too good..! lol..
