^For sure.. Good part is that it "weeds" out the crowds...
I was lucky enough to get out this morning.. Oddly enough, more browns than bows.

*SMILES* .... all about the "LAYERS".

As long as I have:

Ear muffs, Hat, Thermal Underwear, Wool Socks ... and some gloves.
I'm good to go until about -7 C (No major wind)

Anything colder than that ... friggin line, tips ... and my ASS freeze!

We are CANADIAN!
Eh?

I was hoping the cold weather and wind would weed em out last weekend but when I went to Bronte the river was more packed than ever. I made the hike down the hill and walked down river for a while and then just turned around and went back to the car without even putting my line in the water I was so discouraged. Went to another river and it wasnt so bad, cant wait for it to get colder...

This thread needs some color...
-Only managed 3 bows this morning.. rest were all browns.

Was -5 here yesterday morning , got on the river and managed a few fish before the winds drove us off again.
The bad thing about getting a steely on is that you're gonna have to get your hands wet and then the cold wind ... well you know what I mean.

nice one ninja keep it chrome. yeah i been hooking into lotta browns as well i know a few years back i'd be lucky if i got into one, this season its like almost every outing i get a few. not complaining they are lovely fish

i know its a stupid question but where do you guys fish for steelhead on the shore form the lake or intribs cuz evrytime i go neer port hope to fish its like the rest of the msall rivers and tribs are closed all you can fish is the mouths ?!? im geting preaty jealouse of all these fish your catching i would like some info but dont know where to look...

can som1 please shed some light lol i thought tribs were closed after sept 31st for salmon or do they re-open for steelhead?

Read the regs dude most tribs have a small chunk you can fish down to the lake. Most of the eastern tribs you can fish from the CNR bridge down stream down stream. And if you hit port hope, instead of fishing right close to the bridge go out towards the light house and fish with single eggs. You can smash fish!

so when you guys go out your literaly fishing the mouths evrytime therfor theres no real secret spots lol? well maybe off the lake shore but well i guess cuz the chunk that you can fish at port hope is preaty lame since its mostly a pier or what ever i guess id have to go more south west towards toronto to get the nicer tribs... maybe its just me beeing picky.. i like the more naturel settings... i juss thought there was other parts up stream you could fish in ... thanks for the reply though realy apreciate it...

LOL

*SMILES* ... try Wilmot, Bowmanville, Duffins (Ajax) or Oshawa Creek.

There are also many more smaller creeks that can produce, but take lots of LEG WORK and your own personal exploring.
Welcome to the World of SteelHeading (actually ... FISHING in general)

If it was that easy.. what would be the point?

Awesome picture ! Camera make , model , I'm gunning for a new one for Xmas .
Thanks man!

I am using my old Nikon P&S DSC T50.. It;s probably about 5 y/o.. But can still take decent pics,
I only wish I had the jam to bring out my dslr.... But my D90 is to costly.... i do have my D60 still kicking around somewhere.. I really should use that for taking fish pics.

These days, any P&S will work wonders. I would focus in on the "deals" that will be available within the next few weeks.

I thought it was out of the norm as well.. But as you said, no complaints here!

This fish looks so perfect that it's almost unreal, of course the foto is very well taken.....how big would you say the fish was?
She was about 6-7lbs... Really colorful fish.. i really wish I had my DSLR & fish eye lens.. it would have made for a great pic.

Point & Shoot (Sony Cybershot)
Really have not been able to get too far in the Last 10 days.

Went to a local trib real early this morning (Blue Night Bus with all the Frday Night /Morning drunks ..lol)
They were not trophy size but sure had lots of spunk & power.

I'm not sure how anyone can compare FALL STEEL to SPRING STEEL as for the Power. (Personal Opinion)
most are not spawning now, vs in the spring when they are.

Right now... they got the BURST of COLD WATER, are Hungry (Puttin on Weight) and sure like to dance and kiss the sky.

ps; I also did my traditional River Walk (Get cold arms bending down to grab em) and found a total of:

-6 Spoons
-2 Mepps
-1 Flatfish
-4 LARGE TREBLE HOOKS
-6 Steel Leaders
-Dozen Huge Lead weights

100% of the "Salmon Snagger's gear" was tied to BRAID.

^I love the colors!
-First pic almost looks as if the bow is shying' away from the pic.. lol
