bought some S.A custom cut expess tips t10 30 foot sections (loop to loop) and was wondering a good method on how to connect the tips to my skagit line(loop to loop) and then to the leader line?

Any help would be much appreciated to this spey noob :???:

Cheers, MD

thanks for the speedy reply JMatt... now that i've got that out of the way. what about connecting the cut end of the T10 to the leader line? so want to get out tomorrow with the new switch rod set up

if the leader doesn't have a loop, i know people will use a nail knot to tie it on, i don't have much experience with that since i only buy lines and leaders with loops for easy connections lol

i've read nail knots have been known to slip :???:

say my sink tip had loops on both ends as well the leader, what knot style would you recommend

perfection knots look darn hard to tie...

cheers, MD

Is there a fly shop in your area? If so, go there and have them help you out. It's more valuable to you to see it done properly than to frustrate yourself, or worse, blow a fish for a bad knot.

im no expert on knots, i know 2 or 3 and thats it, loop knot, surgeons and improved clinch are the only ones i've used myself, like i said before, i use loop to loop connections as much as possible since they're fast and easy to connect and remove, other than that, i'll use the surgeons knot to connect the ends of lines together

Thanks so much for the tips... just got back from wilson's with a rio versi leader 10ft 5.6 ips, thought i was getting a loop to loop sink tip but turns out there's mono at one end, guess i'll just tie a surgeons knot to the tippit. douh... should of had them show me first hand how to do it. who would of thought this could be so confusing!!!

Just keep in mind Mad Drifter that there is only so much mono on the end of that leader and if you change it enough times with surgeons knots it will get shorter and shorter. If you want to prevent loosing any length tie a perfection loop at the end of the mono leader and attach your tippet with a Loop to Loop connection.
