Corkies, Spin-n-glow and Okies

How many of you guys (or gals) use Corkies, spin-nglow or Okies? These seems to be very popular out west and I was wondering if any one had success with these in the great lakes.

Is Dalhousie productive in the Spring?

Is there any true shore level fishing or do you need a long handled net?

There is true shore level fishing, but I'd still recommend a good net. The water flows faster than any river you are use to.

Used corkies alot bottom fishing with skein at the Ganny , works very well keeping the bait slightly off bottom .
Haven't used them in years , I think I have like two left .
Brightly coloured in two tone , solid colours too.
I'd recommend them for still fishing the bottom .

If your also out on the Niagara (Queenston Drift) .... effective as well.

Guess you could anywhere.
I personally find for "BIG DEEP WATER" ...is when they are best!

Corkies, some guys like to fish them using an egg knot and having some brightly covered yarn in the knot which they add some scent to. A couple of split shots added to the line and away you go. Is this how you guys fished these?

What's the diff between corkies and beads? Corkies presumably float, but so do the little gizmos that I have that I think of as beads.

Beads are made of plastic , while corkies are made of styrafoam.

Corkies, some guys like to fish them using an egg knot and having some brightly covered yarn in the knot which they add some scent to. A couple of split shots added to the line and away you go. Is this how you guys fished these?

We used a bottom rig using a barrel weight then a swivel attached to your leader ,corkie and the hook .
The barrel weight allows the line to be pulled without resistance , sometimes we'd place a small shot between the barrel weight and the swivel to protect the knot from being scraped.
The corkie floats your bait up slightly and by the time the fish feels anything they have pretty much set the hook themselves .

Is a barrel weight the same as an egg sinker and would this be bouncing off the bottom and moving downstream or fixed in one place?

Most of the comments on Okies relate to bottom bouncing.

Can they also be used with a float drift or is it better to use beads?
