hey, i live around the lake simcoe area. ive been attempting crappie fishing for the past 2 years and have had horrible luck.
i went to the scugog river yesterday and fished for maybe 8 hours (in different spots on it) without one crappie....
can anyone tell me any good places to fish for them? is it too cold still?

Nows a good time for crappie actually.
If you live in the lake simcoe area, ive always fished at the end of hwy 89. i think its called gilford?
theres a marina there that will let you fish for a small fee. I think its 10 bucks, but its goo spot for crappie.
be prepped, lots of people go there.

I can't speak for up your way but Bloomingdale ponds (Kaufman flatts) has a ton or crappie with varying sizes, you just need to find them in one of the 3 places they like to "hide".. Erieau and Rondeau Bay are also loaded with crappie.

The first time I caught a crappie, it was at Erieau jigging small mister twisters off the pier. Also saw the biggest in person Pike ever fishing one of the Shrewsbury channels.

Definitely a lot less crappie then there used to be at the ponds, too many people taking buckets out of there regularly.

not shure if you can fish it but lake wilcox in richman hill used to have bunch of them i used to get them at the air pump remember its a no motor lake great lake for belly tubing

Best spots to look for crappie are in small south facing back bays. They seem to be a little spooked still and need the water to warm up a little bit more. Afternoon is best on sunny days since the water is warmer then. We caught a few on Saturday, biggest was 12" but had to go for easter dinner so we gave them to the boat next to us. Marinas are a good spot for them but you have to make sure you check with the marina to see if you can fish there.
