Which line ar you using as you main line and leader because that rod and reel can handle up to 17 pounds?wymen said:Hey Rapala Boy,
What gear are you using? Looks like a spinning rod? I have a 9.6ft St Croix Wild River MH /w a Stradic 4000 and I'm having a tough time floating... I've lost countess bites b/c I had too much slack in the line. I'm debating going to fly fishing b/c of this..

Seriously, so I shouldn't use 20 pound braid main line and a 15 pound fluorocarbon leader.Rapala Boy said:I go very heavy for salmon with 14lb mainline and 10lb fluorocarbon. I'm considering upgrading the fluoro to 12lb!

Why? will the line be too heavy and pull down the float and where do you buy your tackle(hooks, lines , bobbers and rods and reels)?Rapala Boy said:fisher12 said:Seriously, so I shouldn't use 20 pound braid main line and a 15 pound fluorocarbon leader.Rapala Boy said:I go very heavy for salmon with 14lb mainline and 10lb fluorocarbon. Not for float fishing lol. Especially if you have a long flexible rod. It would be kind of overkill
