First day off in months, trying erindale tomorrow first thing, will post if any action,I know the water is fast and dirty, went by yesterday but what the heck. Suppose to be a decent day.
im heading up sunday morning. would like to hear how it looks saturday or friday if you see it.

Went to erindale as planned, around 8:00.Stayed approx 2hrs.Water was really fast and still dirty.
Saw one fellow catch one,and one jumped right in front of me.There were only 4 of us there and the other guys were there earlier and no luck.
Ended up going from there to The Credit Woodlands for a couple hours, some were caught earlier in the day but no one catching anything for a while.
Would anyone know of a good teaching video on how to make me cast a centre pin reel properly?I pull line off the reel with my hand and with the forward momentum release the line from my hand, and it doesn't seem to flow properly out the rod tip.
The reel flows real smooth when drifting even if there is little current..It's 8lb mono.I placed a total of about 9 small split shot, somewhat spaced out below my float.Would more weight help in getting my line out near the middle of the river? Thanks for any help.

i personaly have never used one, but i have used a fly rod and reel before. i know casting it not the same, but i find "drifting" alot of fun, and good to get your bait in the spots you cant cast into.

maybe try spinning the reel as u cast. lol

my buddy says it should come off the side.... as if it were spring loaded and just want to flop off... or something... lol i donno, but you cant go wrong bottom bouncing or just drifting it far into the holes and then reel it back in...
lit the water take ur bait to the spot you wanted to cast to,

oh and thnaks for river update.... the saugeen is looking very nice this weekend i hear... 2 feet vis..

If you Google casting a center pin you will be able to see a number of You Tube videos for casting. I've not mastered the Wallis cast yet and still like many use the side cast.

Just finished watching several videos on you tube including the wallis cast.I'm going in the backyard tomorrow and practicing.Apparently you pullout the line, load the rod and than follow the line through as you cast remembering to stop the reel from over spinning and causing a mess.I'm sure it's not quite as easy as it looks till you get the hang of it.
Looks like your split shot weight doesn't play a big part in the cast.

Sweet So Its The Same Way I Do With My Spinning Reel.... Just Gotta Remember To Stop The Pin..... I Might Buy One Then

side cast ftw very easy and simple. i can chuck it across the whole credit with no problem. line is suppose to come out from the side. dont pull your reel it might over spin and u get all tangled up. Just rip the line from the side and guide it with your left hand.

here look the video its very basic.

Thanks Float, this looks very easy. It's getting the reel spinning as your guiding the line with your hand.,also with a forward momentum ,Will try the side cast first.

Hey all, the videos and info that have been posted are pretty cool, I was just wondering what the benefit of centre pin reels are over spinning reels. Is it easier to mend line (similar to fly fishing) to get a more natural drift?

Center pin reels give you better control of your float during any drift. Pins also allow you to stand at the head of the pool and fish the entire pool without having to change positions on the pool , as you would have to when using a spinning reel. I also find that I can land a fish faster using a pin , which is very important when you plan on releasing your catch. I've used both spinning and center pin reels and since I usually use a float I select the pin because it is more efficient and more fun than using a spinning reel. Spinning reels are my reel of choice for tossing lures or for bottom bouncing.
