Custom Float Reels

Had many conversations with Robb (and laughs) about guys thinking they were going to break their reels down on the river...never happen, not necessary. Give it a good rinse and you're golden...mind you, if you fetishists INSIST on photographing your fish with your reel half in the sand, then...well............

Hey beef just saw your post now. I like the idea of not having the same reel as everyone else which is why I was thinking custom. With the price of KP I might as well spend 400-600 on a custom reel that noone else will have. By custom I mean small run reels, not a truly custom one like yours. Pics?

With that being said I do have my eye on a KP that might go for a very good price. If it is in good condition I am thinking im going to grab it, I can always sell or keep the reel down the road and get a custom then.

$750 for the reel and $650 for the matching rod. Way to much for me

Lots of fools out there willing to lay out that kind of cash...clearly they don't have a family to feed...regardless it should be noted that you are talking about $1500 for the set....
REMEMBER you have to make $3000 BEFORE TAXES....

Gotta laugh though, every time a new KP comes out, there is a spate of used Imperials etc. being offered for sale...don't get it really...to each his own...
The reel doesn't control the drift and doesn't present the bait...

some people think that because they use the best most expensive gear, it makes them the best fisherman, fish don't care....i've got fish on my grandpas 1970's cortland fly rod, as well a loomis fly rod, all that matters is if the fish is hungry

It is a crazy addiction. I do find myself wanting the latest and greatest but can't bring myself to justify having more reels especially at those high prices. It is definitely not the equipment. I do pretty well myself but often fish with an older fellow from my home town and I swear he has a magic wand. His set up was new in the 60's and his simple approach is unbelievable. He doesn't worry about what float he uses or how big of weight he should use. He simply just catches fish. I have been with him on those clear and low water days when nobody is catching fish and he will get 10. I mean 10 on a not day is awesome but he seems to have the ability to catch fish anytime. I should be spending my money to but him coffee and gather more and more precious river knowledge. He is getting older and someday this vast knowledge is going to be gone.

I dont expect to catch more fish with this reel, I just want it lol.
