i'm going up there this saturday and i was wondering if it was ready to be fished, and if it's even open there yet

any help will be appreciated, Will

Nope sorry Will. You aren't allowed to fish there til the last saturday in April.

yeah i just checked mrn and found that out, darn i'm dying to fish and i don't want to risk fishing the pond near my house since it contans walleye

in that case, does anyone know if lake wilcox is thawed yet, i know that i would be alowed to fish for, brook trout, pike, sunfish, crappie, perch and catfish, my other question is, would i actually catch any if i did fish there?

once again, thanks in advance for help, Will

I highly doubt your pond holds walleye.
nothing that shallow will hold walleye as it would heat up way too quickly and walleye are not tolerant of low oxygen levels.

at wilcox you'll probably catch perch, catfish and crappie if it has any. maybe the odd pike too if you're lucky.

i have found numerouse walleye remains around the shore lines, unless they are some sort of walleye imitators, and thanks for the advice on wilcox, now i just need to find out if there is any open water there...

take a picture of the remains...
pond is way too small. should probably be just carp if anything.

i only find them in the summer so i'll have probably caught whatever they are before i find the remains, but i do agree that walleye would not survive in that pond, i guess i'll find out when it's time

Lake Wilcox is still frozen. The ice is getting quite thin though, wont be long. I live on the lake, I'll keep you posted.

i only live about five minutes away on bike, but it's kinda hard to ride a bike with a fishing rod ;)

Lake Scougog has always caught my interest as I drive to my cottage up in Bobcaygeon. I always see people fishing from the road that cuts the water, has anybody ever fished there before, and how is it? If only the ice would disappear...
