I've been boating and fishing on the Humber for a few years now. I've seen a lot of rowers from the Argonaut Rowing Club on the river over the years. They're generally not a very friendly bunch. They never say good morning or even nod hello. But I never had a problem until yesterday.

I was paddling my kayak down river toward the lake when this rower shouts "get out of my way" then rams me from behind a few seconds later. He then proceeds to tell me that the collision was my fault and that I am supposed to get out of his way, even though he is approaching from behind and I didn't even see him!

Anyone ever have a problem with a rower?

I would be pissed if that ever happened to me... How did your kayak make out? Never had a problem with a rower though.

Thats bull$hit. I would have snapped on that punk. Its not your fault he could have went around you. Good job on not killing that prick, I dont know if I could have resisted lol

Next time you see him and still jerking around. Ask him to show you the deed to his water.

Basic seamanship states that he was wrong. Not sure how Navigational rules apply to Kayaks but from my Sailing days The boat being overtaken has right of way until the passing boat has mast abeam

I would have put a paddle through his hull

rowers can be very dangerous if you think about it, they never face in the direction in which they're moving, In your case both vessels are moving in the same direction but your bodies are back to back......but I think it was his fault because he hit you and couldn't see where he was going
aren't they supposed to have a spotter?

My brother rows, Some of their boats tip so easily it can be really hard to turn them. This guy does seem like a bit of an ass tho. My brother has never mentioned anything like this before.
