Hey everyone,

I am looking to set my 18ft bowrider boat up for some downrigging as I used to do it in a 16ft aluminum boat but as I sold it last year got more of a family boat ive decided I want to do some downrigging with it and get a couple manual riggers for it. Now ive seen people rig it up a plank across the back of the boat, im just curious if anyone on here has done it and has pictures im looking for ideas to do it inexpensive as you seem to pay an arm and a leg for a kit and if I use a 2x8 board I can just bolt the riggers to it I was more curious of the mounting of the plank to the boat.

thanks in advance hopefully someone has pictures!!!

Rigger dealer will have all the mounting options info for ya.
DON'T for the sake of a few more bucks make the mistake of going manual.
Been there done that.
After one day of winding in cannon balls you'll get my point.
Your just not bringing them in when you get a fish on , but also about every 20 min. to check for tangles and if your dragging a shaker or even changing lures.
Gets old fast.

Yea I don't know yet, I just got thinking I might just do rod holders as I am close to erie and I think that for the sake of it I will just use dipsy's and go for walleye

Use the gimble mount adapters.

This makes your down riggers portable not permanently fixed.

All the down rigger balls are notorious for dragging behind giving false depths

The ZWing digs deeper then anything else.

this was my dads setup in his boat, he used a pair of eye bolts to hook under the middle of the cleats, then bolted the swivel mounts to the board, the 2 manual riggers went straight off the back, and then 2 dipsy rods off the sides
