I fish this harbor not saying where and I do great with what I'm using now but I noticed lots of fish jumping for flies.

A local told me lots of stuff gets washed down into the harbor and I saw more fish jumping that being caught so I started thinking:

It's not really a place you can swing a fly rod without taking out some people.

So I was thinking about drifting a fly under a float just as an experiment and see if anything happens.

Anyone tried this? I always used a fly rod so using my spinning gear to float a fly will be something new. I guess floating a nymphs or leech pattern would be easy but how about a dry fly.

Just curious.

Give the bubble float a try

You can float anything even flies as mentioned above. I doubt those fish are rising for flies, hatch don't start till mid next month I believe. Then again they could be Carp.

Drifting a fly under a float is common among pinners. I dont think that jumping fish necessarily means that they are eating off the top. But hey, might as well try !!
Fish on !!
