Hope everyone had a successful opener. I went to a local GB trib upstream and only saw one fish all morning. I was mostly nymphing pocket water but took my spinning rod to float some runs. Question: do you use an egg loop knot for attaching roe for more success? I have generally always hooked the roe bags directly on the hook. Just wondering.

This has been my first year to. I've had tons of experience just hooking direct. Some days water is clear and others it's muddy. Doesn't seem to big the fish.

Occasionally. Bottom bouncing big water, float fishing larger presentations. I like to hide the shank and expose the gap for better hooksets, less line twist, ect. When using finer hooks, it becomes cumbersome and unnecessary IMO
