Thanks for all the comments, in support and critical. I was unaware that they were any more fragile. I certainly took care when handling them to keep them in the water as much as possible and to play them as little as possible. Hopefully they live and I learn.
Dillgaf - I mash all my barbs when tying. I hate fighting to dehook and the damage that causes the fish. I'd much rather lose a fish than be yanking barbs out. I've also mashed most of my smaller spinning tackle for the same reason. I'm interested in enticing a fish to strike - once that's happened I'm less bothered by actually landing the fish.
TI - I do have a picture of my first Goby! Hate those things.
