Howdy!

I am just wondering, all these secret ponds we fish for bass.

What are the current condition of these ponds?

Are the bass in those ponds feeding like pigs in preparation for winter?

I've actually never bass fishing during these months.

What are go-to baits in current season? Bit early? bit late? perfect? what?

During all my summer pond bass fishing, I haven't seen a single fat belly.

They were all skinny belly. I am sure you all have noticed that since ponds aren't as food rich as larger body of water?
I don't know.

Feed back would be appreciated for fall bassing.

Thank you.

7 years ago on November 30th (day before bass closed) I was out in my pond hopper on the local pond. There were ice sheets on some shorelines and we were in survival suits. Every 3 casts we had to stop and warm our hands up.

It's not the weather that makes me remember that day though..

I got my PB 7.4 lb largemouth that day. There were 3 pics of it on a film camera, but my asshole former friend Derek destroyed the film by being an idiot!

Anyways, fall fishing on ponds can be spectacular.

Be prepared to be patient in waiting for bites. But if you keep at it you can get the largest bass of the year. Your pond may just surprise you at this time of year with some real quality fish.

Oh yeah by the way my best fall tactics on ponds after turnover are swimming black/blue flippin jigs with pork trailers and slow rolling white spinnerbaits.

I would've kicked Derek's ass for sure! 7.4 lbs of solid bass is something everyone of us dreams of.

I was curious about this subject so I went out to one of the ponds just to see...

I was there for about an hour and a half, and got around 12 bass.

They were all pretty much the same size, above average fish for that pond. I didn't get any small guys which was a pleasant surprise.

They weren't concentrated in the usual hot-spots, instead they seemed to be scattered. I had to work a lot more water to get the same number of fish that I normally get in the summer months.

I'll post a report later tonight.
