It's the busy time of year for me, although still tying flies on breaks (I work from home mostly). Heard you dropped in to Gagnon's - I'll PM more tying ideas soon.
- if you are crowding the eye, either unwrap a few wraps and redo, or push everything back a bit with your thumbnail,
- don't rush - place each thread wrap right next to the one before so the head is smooth, build up the thread to make a smooth bullet shape,
- thin your head cement, and then use two coats - the first one sinks in and binds, the second one fills in the gaps and leave a glossy (and tougher) finish.
