Getting a little personal gents...I made the comment, so I suggest any dissenting remarks be directed toward me...
I've posted the "Mental Chewing Gum" thread as an analogy and a reminder to be good custodians of our FINITE resource...
I hope most find this instructive, (some have even taken that as an opportunity for sarcasm)--those (and there are many here) that just don't get it, I have no time for and don't care to share time on the water with...

This is getting old...apologies for the bitch...

As I said G...congrats, great to get the first one on the fly!!
(btw all my photos are from solo excursions on the river....)

Chase, feel free to look through my posts. Never my intention to get personal, although, I have been tempted with some of Remy's jabs and do admit, my reply to Remy's post about fishing for sunfish could be interpreted as a personal jab. Please pm me if you see otherwise.

As well, not every one is as experienced as you when it comes to handling big steelhead, so it is inappropriate for you to expect everyone to have the same skill level as you. May, I suggest a post written in simple english outlining tips and tricks to handling and photographing steelhead when alone?

I wouldn't dare make a comment to your post that wasn't positive cause the ban hammer might fall, due to me not fishing for trout...

gee noob--nice of you to get a law degree without telling us cause you seem to be everyones savior when it comes to my posts---why the hell would a fish flopping in 2 inches of its own habitat be worse that laying on the ground--completely foreing to the fish with ZERO potential for air in its lungs...???? this is a young man that needs to know that fish live in the water for a reason and we need to try and keep them there----seriously bro--if you wanna take little runs at me do it in PM once you get out of high school or maybe just stick to greeting the new members at the door.
Don't have a law degree and not following you around the internet. Don't worry... lol

The fish can do a lot of damage to it's mouth and jaw flopping around with a hook in it's mouth. I've seen fish with literally half there jaw torn off that way. A tip from uncut angling is to hold your breath the second you remove the fish, when you run out the fish as too... I understand this does not quite work because of the different lung capacity, but you get the idea. For me, I'd rather see a fish out for a minute, under control and revived later, then a fish kept in the water flopping around tearing up it's jaw for 6 minutes. You were a beginner once, too bad you forgot what it was like...

Haven't taken a single run at you as far as I am concerned, except perhaps the sunfish once, but you must admit you were not polite or thankful. (Was the pun intended?) I have however, responded to topics to inform people that some things you say are rules are in fact not rules and that they should not worry about doing anything wrong and you have clearly taken personal jabs at me, something which I have moved past, because I realize you are just another person like me behind a computer.

Why can't I participate in active fishing discussion?

Thanks for the post Noob:

Just wanted to clarify it was MY observation regarding fish handling...just a friendly heads up to G (which I believe was the tone of my comment). There are ample posts regarding the proper treatment of fish...they are pinned, and yes I readily admit it is an acquired skill to be able to manage things out there solo (not that I am successful at it all the time either).

And also Noob...I am not that sensitive...everyone has their opinion which they are free to post as they see fit brother...we are free to disagree.

For the record however there are some here who insist on behaving as trolls (the bane of any forum really...and we have to manage these issues as they arise so as to ensure an equitable and fair and generous arena)...they have made themselves known and their behaviour has been noted.

Not everyone will agree with my militant position regarding the protection of our resource...as I said, there is no place in my community for them nor a place next to me on the river...simple.

Hope this helps...lets fish!!

noob you need to get some more fish under your belt...go fishing

WOW, this topic went a diff direction...

well guys i have bought a fly rod and reel from crappy tire, a simple no drag system for 60 bucks, to start fly fishing untill i can cast properly and will invest in a proper set.

i go to newfoundland every so often so im just waiting untill july when i go down and might pick up a nice rod and reel (any suggestions)

i was out in the river the otherday and cought my first rainbow on a fly, it was about 4-5 inches (not big) but it was the most fun i had in a while, just the trhill of fighting a fish with no drag its just you and the fish.
i cought a few more that day untill my arm was sore and switched back to my spinning reel.

sorry no pics as i was out there to learn and practice and didnt expect to catch anything on it.
