Hey everyone. caught my first fish on fly today!
Just got back from a fine day of walking and wading the upper reaches of my local trib.
was a cloudy morning and some cold crept back in the air overnight. light drizzle when i arrived.
was my first time actually spending a whole day with my fly rod. got some previous practice cast and stuff in but never spent a day on it.
caught a couple small guys under 12 inches. looked like browns. using a black bugger with some shiny material in the tail
anyways moving on. same fly pattern. tossing it into a rocky run with a huge boulder near the end. i saw some movement in the pocket in front of the rock so i was swinging it in front of that area at the end of the drifts
and on the final swing before i was about to move on i got a massive hit!
after a short but intense fight i landed it. trophy of the day!
darn right im gonna be getting more practice in now!
