First time salmon fishing

Friend brought me to an east trib one evening this week for my first time fishing for salmon. They where everywhere but would not strike anything we tried from spoons, spinners, roe and worms. From following some of the forums it sounds like most of you are at the mouth of the trib and not up north (around hwy #7), is my problem the location?

I will be in Fergus for a sports tournament tomorrow and I just realized the trib I heard so much about from this forum is right there. May try to get some fishing in between games if wife will let me. Where is a good access point to the water, I have never been there.

i don't think salmon make it all the way to Fergus. Stopped by dam in Paris, I think.

gotta watch out around there a lot of it is single barb less hook no live bait areas. check the regs.

I will just use jig heads with plastics.

I wouldn't wast my time. !!! The average flow is 3.5cms but is currently 13.5 do to the grca draining the Bellwood dam to winter levels !!! There is no part through fergus that will be fish able !!


You can try but be very careful it's a raging river

Ya I was really pissed off when I saw that they did that on the last week of trout season!! Not that I could go as I'm in Montreal but if I weren't here I would be wanting to go down there
