if you don't wanna float fish, throw large heavy spoons on a decently fast retrieve, find the seams of water and work those areas, work the tail in and tail out of the main basin. Wear warm clothing (preferably breathable waders) and cleats and always, always make sure your visible should anything happen. 12lb line (mono) at least is good in case you line rubs some ice or in case you hook a muskie. long rods 10ft + is ideal. best spoons would be 5 diamonds, dare devils or kiwik fish however those aren't spoons, in general any flashy silver or gold spoon will work. try fishing sun up or down if you can, and again be careful the river isn't a joke and with this bad weather its even more dangerous but its worthwhile. good luck and tight lines
