Hey, thought i'd share some pictures from Ralph Bice lake from a few weeks ago.
My friends and I went on a 5 day canoe trip june 18-22, and I have to say I was surprised how gorgeous that place is. I only saw one small lake, but if you're into beautiful landscapes, this is a great lake to go to. Rocky outcrops, massive forests, picturesque island campgrounds, the works.
The cherry on top of it all is that we all managed to land our first Lake trout. Definitely no monsters amongst the bunch, so I doubt I felt the pound for pound power these guys can possess, but oh well, they tasted delicious :p.
I assume a few of you guys have travelled to Algonquin for Lakers as well, I'm curious to hear what the largest trout you've pulled out there are. The biggest in our group was only 4 pounds, but we saw a lot of huge fish on the fishfinder, just no luck landing them. Either way, homemade cool ranch Dorito breading and fresh trout were a lot tastier than I expected

And yes, that log has been carved into 4 perfect seats, probably the coolest campsite we came across.

Nice report and fish! There are a lot of 12+ pound lakers in A.P. you'd have to troll or jig big spoons for them though, just curious, how did you get the lakers, jigging or trolling?

We were trolling Williams Wablers and EGB's about 50-150 feet down. We tried jigging here and there but it was our first time dealing with such a deep lake, so I couldn't for the life of me get my lure to go down vertically, it'd always go diagonally. We must've seen a few of those 12 pounders on the fishfinder, but they didn't seem to want a big or small spoon from us. I upped my bottom bouncing gear for next time, maybe I can land me a monster.

ya the big ones usually hit williams or little cleo spoons on red and silver or red and gold, at least for me, really gotta get it down though, lead core, bottom bouncing gear, etc. Ive gotten a few nice ones just jigging badboys with a small rubber tube or a rubber minnow believe it or not!

Nice, how do you manage to jig vertically when the water gets that deep? We had most of our luck on blue and silver, My lucky lure had blue and pink on the edges, seemed to work pretty well for an inexperienced trout angler haha

those lake trout while not big are perfect eating size. my biggest from algonquin is im guessing about 8 lbs.

youre doing it right man you just gotta find ways to get some more weight on the line to get it right down, like bowslayer is saying

nice fish and nice pics! sounds like it was a great time

as for vertical jigging just pretend your ice fishing with no hole ;)
