I was talking about the pool just below the dam, and I have seen some nice Browns (24"+) come out of there. (these guys were using Pickerel rigs and corn of all things) That pool receives a lot of pressure, and gets a little "thin" as the summer progresses. As you head downstream, you can only fish the conservation area with live bait (though many fly rod this stretch for Browns also, and with good success). Below the southern boundary of the CA, (I think it's county road 24?) it's restricted to single barbless hooks and catch and release only. (so fly fishing) I've also fished that stretch of water and had good success - Browns are usually nice size. There are pockets of the Grand that are open to other types of fishing, but refer to the regulations and know where you are as there are other "no kill zones" all the way down to Elora. Just because there isn't a sign posted, doesn't mean it's okay.
