One of fav ways to catch bass and also one of my top techniques for BIG bass is fishing docks. i like to use a weightless yamamoto fat ika.
post your fav dock lure

Sweet topic!

For skipping under docks I like to throw a black and blue craw or a green pumpkin 5" worm (both unweighted). For working the contours I love fat bodied cranks, weighted craws, and spoons.

I try to avoid docks during peak times because it really pisses some people off but no doubt they're a game breaker for the hawg hunt...

Docks - Jig and craw combo. Caught soo many fish on a simple pb+J jig with a pumpkin seed trailer. I fish the jig over every part of the dock then move on...

Hey Noob for docks do u use a swimming jig or drag it along the bottom or both?
Depends... if the dock is surrounded by rocks or sand and I want to fish it slow (late in the fall), I'll use a football jig and drag it along the bottom. Other times especially in the summer, I'll fish docks fast and use a flipping jig, which is basically a swim jig and just hop it along the bottom under the dock and along the sides of the pilings. The trailer I use is a yum money craw.

sounds like a winning formula man, I'll definitely try that out this year!

I usually like to set up a giant boulder just on the edge of the dock with a chalking wedge keeping it just from falling over. Then I take 8lb fluorocarbon line tied to the wedge with a little worm on a 1/0 aberdeen hook and suspend it just off the bottom….

…wait… no… that is how I catch the roadrunner. Nevermind.

lol, if i know anything about catching roadrunners I would guess that every single time you try it he takes your worm, and when you go down to check out how he did it he sneaks up on the dock and pushes the boulder on your foot.

Lol i would have to agree.
And yes i also agree with the Jig when flipping docks but what i have noticed is that on really high pressured lakes (70% of the lakes i fish) they see that fast movment to the bottow and they dont bite unless you let it sit for a bit. With this high pressure situation i like to throw weightless. If you can make the deepest cast and hit that water so softly than 1 cast is all you need and your off to the next one. I know that bigger docks can hold mulitipul fish but again it take alot to get them to bite that jig for some reason. Even with the fat ika that i throw i rig it upsidedown with the skirt facing up thinking that its somthing the fish have not seen. Sure enough my crazy thinking payed off and i have caught so many BIG bass this passed season where during the seasons that i threw the jig less numbers and less weight. I gotta say the slow fall even with a big creature bait or a senko rigged wacky style can really bring the bigger smarter bass.

Yah weightless is great, takes a bit more patience but it works. I like to throw an unweighted presentation under the dock to get fish that are lazy or hiding from heat or predators. If that doesn't work I use a faster presentation around the dock to draw out a reaction strike from any fish that are feeding but not in the mood for a dead stick or slow drop. I used to do it the other way around but it didn't work as well. I think using the faster retrieve right off the bat spooked some fish from biting so now I take it slow at first.

It's kinda the opposite of how I fish other structure/cover. Usually i like to bulge spinners under the surface and then switch to something slower if that doesn't work.
