Well I was out at Puslinch Lake fishing my usual spinnerbaits targeting pike and the odd bass. I wasnt getting anything for the first while except for one bass until I caught a big texas rigging hook with a 7" black and blue twistertail worm. After that I couldnt keep the bass off my line, I am definately going out and buying a whole bunch of texas hooks, worms, frogs, crawfish etc.

I was just wondering what you guys prefer to use: SIze of hook, size/color of worm, crawfish, wacky weedless or texas rigged etc.

I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket with stocking up on plastics. Yes, they produce, but the thing you did was improvise. What wasn't working for spinners, you chose plastics and that was key for the day. I'm sure you'll find other days that plastics are not working and spinners will be the key.

Glad you had a great time. Too bad summer doesn't stay with us longer.

I find that plastics are best for the hot afternoon days when the fish don't seem like they want to move much. Early morning and into the evening is when I find most success with things like in-line spinners and spoons -- they're just more active. During the day, slowly dragging a worm or tube across the bottom produces good results.

Ya I already have more spinners, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits than I really need so not its time to fill the plastic void. I already got some white plastic frogs for texas rigging, im gonna pick up some big senko style worms and maybe some crawfish as well.

Cant wait to get out again, hopefully if I get lucky ill be allowed back out to the cottage tonight. lol

Pick up some 4.5" yum vibra tubes. We fish alot of plastics for bass and i always pull the same thing out first because they work so well for me...yum vibra's. Using the ribs to conceal the hook, and comes out easy when a fish strikes. I use 3/0 offset wide gap hooks and 3/8- 1/2oz bullet sinkers.
