Is it me or fishing has slowed down a lot in the last couple of weeks? On my local pond (Valens) I used to average 2-3 pikes and 1-3 decent bass per outing, and then starting 2 weeks ago, I'm getting skunked all the time. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, senko worms -- these things generally produced for me before. Not anymore.

Not you. I find the same thing happening each year. The hot of hot (August) and the cold of cold (February) I find personally are the worst months for me.

Drop shot has been producing well on the lakes i fish. Ive been finding most bass are holding in about 6-10 fow with the odd one in the shallows

Fish have moved into mid-summer habitats and patterns. They are no longer in the same locations where they were a month ago.

So where are these mid-summer habitats mostly---deeper sections? The lake I fish on has just a few places that are 10ft or so, most is between 1 to 5 ft.

Its this summer 2017 weather. Heavy rain. Cold fronts. Wind. Most of my bass this summer have been caught slow jigging. For pike spinnerbaits are hit or miss but slow presentations with jerkbaits been working too. Just have to really look at the forecasts and try to go out on those warmfront days. The past couple weekends the thursday-friday before have had some storms bringing in that post cold front for the saturday sunday (when i usually go fishing)
All you need to do is adjust your fishing. This weather is really driving the bass deep and huddled around cover. Try downsizing baits and dissect any type of cover you have on the lakes you fish. If there is bass in that lake they will be around some type of structure or cover. Again this weather is making these bass lethargic so downsizing and slowing down is key. If your lake does not have any type of structure around the shallows than try heading deep water and slow jigging

Downsizing baits worked in my case .. Went from 6 inch baits down to 4 and my 4 inch baits down as low as 2 inch . Jerk bait presentation has stayed the same but with a little more time on the twitch "pause" . Pikefishing around here has been great this year , The monsters are far and few between but still lots of action from the smaller guys ..
