I was thinking about getting a kayak recently but I was not sure which one was the best, if any of you guys have had a kayak. Please inform me on how its performance is.

Hi,

I used to live in Florida where a lot of the guys used kayaks to fish from and with great results, it certainly gives you much better access and areas to fish that you would not normally be able to.

The ones used were the Hobie cat kayaks with the new foot paddle and steering arrangements and can be fitted with aerated live well containers and come complete with rod holders, rod storage areas and plenty of room for tackle bags and other equipment. They sell for about U.S $ 2000 although I have been looking at a couple of kayaks from Canadian Tire which sell at Canadian $ 500, they are basic but still goof to fish from and come complete with rod holders etc.

Colin.

I would contact Paddleshack.com. They are manufacturers of Swift canoes and kayaks right here in South River, Ontario. I'm sure they would be more than happy to recommend the best kayak for fishing. I know you can get them with stabalizer to help with the tippiness. I think that could be quite helpful when battling a fish. If you contact them, get them to post their recommendations on the site for others who maybe interested.
