Im heading to lake scugog for the 2nd time this friday, plan to be there for 6 am or so and get a pontoon for the day! Anyone have any tips, tricks or pointers on what lures/bait i should be using, im really new and am clueless as to lures and baits. always just use the good old hook and worm.

Thanks!

Havent really fished scugog much itself but ive been hitting tributaries off of the main lake and ive been slamming the bass on natural coloured senkos either texas or wacky rigged

Senkos, never leave without 'em. work the weeds. I know there are parts of Scugog that are overfished but if you work your pontoon on the right spots. there are lunkers to be had.

UPDATE tried fishing texas and wacky with senkos!

rained. tiny bit in the morn, fished in the rain for 2 hours, 3 of my friends caught 2 1 1/2 lb bass each, i caught shit all, changed spots, none of my friends caught anything, i caught a smallie and a perch. 9am-1 pm

Keep at it and u will get results. A tip with using senkos is to keep an eye on your line. I like to keep a low rod tip pointed at the bait with maybe a foot or two of slack so the fish can take the bait without feeling the pull on the line and if you see your line do anything thats not natural to the movement of water set the hook

Heading back to scugog again this friday!

Can people who fish here often please give me some good spots to go try out for some lunkers, really tired of catching 1lb bass at a rate of 1/ hour. Im not expecting to catch dozens, but atleast 1 or 2 decent sized ones throughout the day.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record. Stop asking silly questions and do the leg work.
Seriously ?? You are going to a fairly heavily fished lake on a week end and are complaining about catching 1 lb Bass at a rate of 1 / hr. We should all have your problems.
Just go search the old fashioned way like the rest of us.

Scugog isn't a big lake. If your on a boat, you already have the advantage compared to the shore anglers. I have caught 3 - 5lb bass there by the shore. How hard would it be if you have a boat?

UPDATE!

Went again today, we got there around 8 am, in the first hour or two, only one person out of 4, caught a small bass probably less than 1lb, we hit a few more spots with no luck, and decided to head to the other side of scugog where people say are good. halfway through, our motor decided to give out, while we waited for the marina to come tow us, we decided to throw out our lines in the middle of no where, BAM one of my other friends caught a 3-4 lb bass , and i caught a black crappie, and another friend caught a rock bass, out in the MIDDLE of nowhere in deep water. We usually fish near shorelines in the weeds, guess we gotta try out the deeper parts next time!
