Snapped my 14 lb fluro leader when I was bringing it through the shallows :(. I didn't have a camera just a crappy old phone with me and I was focused on getting the hook out so that it could continue upstream and make a crap load of babies lol. (It was a hen)

I guess I don't have any proof that I caught that thing so if you don't believe my I understand

Guys I was at CT today and came across the most beautiful rod/reel combo I have ever seen.

Quantum Advantage Pro 30

Would anyone recommend it? Retails for $129.99 but goes on sale for 50% off a $64.99

Going to try and research some reviews on it. Is it also worth getting a baitcaster? I've always used my spinning reels for baitcasting and never have I had an issue that I wouldn't when using it for spinners/lures, which is one reason I was shocked such a specific reel exists.
 
I am always Leary of CT combos, I would guess if you check Quantum site I will bet that, that model is not there. Do your self a favour and "build" your own rod and reel set.

Think about it a combo for 130.00 now half price?!?! I would put money down that the combo they have is really only worth 45-50 bucks, CT still has to make its money

well ive caught salmon at porthope in the open water with a 2500 trout reel and it faired pretty well, imo i like shorter rods with smaller reels cuz the longer rods get a bit awkward in -10 degree weather sitting shoulder width apart from other guys fishing

Completly agree. And alot of the times the combos cannot be found on the said manufacuters websites ( crappy knock offs )

Do your self a favour a spend your money on separte rod and reel.
 
a better question first is.. what is your budget.

in all honestly, knowing that first will help you pick something out alot quicker.
do not forgot also look outside canada for rods. their is simply no selection here in my opinion.

coming from nyc, ive tried almost every brand and model under the sun. 95% of those items, you cant get here locally.
so it will definitely need to be imported in if you desire quality.

so let me know whats you intend to spend.
 
CT usually sells garbage rods and reels. Save the money and buy it from a local tackle shop.

Im not going to continue why I asked him to pm me. sometimes people like to keep what they want to spend to themselves and not be judged. the internet can be a horrible place for people not wanting to be judged. Either way back to the forum topic.... I will be working this weekend sat/sun. Find Alex in the fishing department and just introduce yourself. And yes it is the vaughan mills one.
 
soliciting a sale for bps isnt doing him good either, just to let you know.
even though i havent been here long. i notice alot of times you mention your working xyz days xyz time at bps.
being friendly and cool is one thing, but there really isnt a reason to advertise your for your employer IMO.
bps is nice for some things. but alot of it is mediocre at best.
i dont need to be so secretive like,, oh PM me. lets talk in private yada yada yada. this isnt a hot date or picking a chick out of a club.



anyways tiago, if you truly plan to invest into a good all around rod, that can cast from shore/pier/rocks, inshore, bays, ocean, trolling, jigging, dead bait, and your kayak. i recommend you look at 'Lamiglas Triflex Inshore' 7020 series rods. 7 series is 7' rods.
this rod is the closest thing you can get that is a do-all rod. i have not seen or found another one even coming close in performance.

i have the recent newer revised models will cast 1oz jigs to wreck fishing with 6oz of lead. it will swing 1-7 lb fish over a rail without worry of breaking. ALOT of backbone in the rod. will tackle any fish under 30lbs easily. i also have the older models xsw70mhc and xsw70hc (which can use 1-16oz of lead easily), the rods are about 12 years old now. ive swung 15 lb cod over the rails with it. it still fishes like new. durability is amazing. they are graphite/glass composite rods.

you most likely will not find this rod here, and have to order it from the US. made in the usa. lifetime warranty. it runs in the ~$150-$200 (new) range before shipping.
