Looking for a good fishing spot that dosent require a boat.
Want to plan a small trip to reintroduce myself and my friends to fishing again.

I live near Toronto so preferably somewhere nearby and is guaranteed a catch.

lots of fishing spots to be had in the gta from lake simcoe to shore of lake ontario. Take a look at the maps for possible ponds in your area... other than that, you really can't go wrong with simcoe/cooks bay panfish or lake ontario bass and pike at harbourfront. make sure you check your regulations though, cause certain fish have certain fishing seasons.

basically anywhere where there is a big enough body of water so that when you cast it doesnt land on the other side of the lake , pond etc. lots of spots around gta.

I saw the maps on the map section. Dont know if those are just random maps or tried and true maps. I loved fishing before, but one of the reasons I stopped was me not catching anything.

those are random ponds located around the GTA. one of the focuses of this forum is to explore and discover different bodies of water here that contain fish. You can check out some ponds close to you, post a couple of solid reports and gain access to our wealth of info in the section that you can't view right now.

Just take it easy at first. Aim for panfish cause it's hard to fail at that. Get a good feel for things and then move on up. Don't expect to catch huge fish at first. That comes with time.

Ok thats probably why im wondering why I couldnt find any detailed reports on specific areas. How can I view them?
I tried panfish (sunfish) but it gets boring. I wanna catch something over 1ft long.

I do believe there are some spots around where you can cast for salmon from shore. It'll keep you busy when you hook into it.

Try High Park Grenaider Pond. I used to go there last summer and I catch like tons of panfishes. At the end of April, try fishing for crappie as they spawn. Grenaider Pond also has pike and largemouth but it's pretty hard catching them unless you know where to cast and what bait to use.

danz24, if you want to catch something a little bit bigger than panfish around the GTA, you're probably going to want to target Bass, Pike, Carp, Steelhead and Salmon. The season is currently closed for Bass and Pike, and Salmon fishing from shore starts in August. That leaves you with Steelhead and Carp to try for right now...There are several spots in and near the GTA to target both. If you are going to try for Steelhead, make sure you check the regulations because the open season doesn't begin until the last weekend in April.

You must submit your own detailed fishing report before you can access the reports section which is why you can't see them right now. I'll try to help you find a spot to fish so that you can get your first report in.

What kind of fishing are you interested in?

Im interested in catching fish that
-I can catch on shore
-Dont have to wait hours on end to catch
-no sunfish (bluegill, pumpkinseed), so something bigger.
-Can make a great day of fishing with buddies
-How about bass? When I watch those fishing shows it seems that they only have to wait a few minutes before their next catch. I want that fishing experience!

I just need to know one good spot to get me hooked. If I have to explore lakes again like I did before I will end up with NOTHING and move on to new hobbies.

btw...those carp are HARD to catch. I literally had a worm and even used in front of one and it didnt have any effect.

First off fishing is about more than just catching fish so going out with that mind set that you don't want to spend hours, well perhaps you’re in the wrong sport!

Get out and about enjoy the outdoors and when you catch BONUS.

And all that time your not catching you should be learning and after all that time spent learning what doesn’t work you should be left with decent idea of what will work when and where and then you wont be complaining about going hours on end with nothing,

Now for some Positive reinforcement:

In GTA yeah it can be hard at times, The Island is very good in summer, The spit can be hit and miss big time one day smoking the next nought. Ash Bridges is again a spot based on time of year and same with the Humber.

Hit the spit and the Island and u should do well and if your only interested in an hour or so try Eglington Flats, Small pond loaded with carp and small pike and pan fish!

Couldn't put it any better.

Don't even bother going to Eglington Flats.

Interesting wishes indeed, don't we all wish for something like this? :( :?: I mean who would not want to catch big fish and not to wait for too long? :D
But if you really want to get into fishing, first skill you need to obtain to patience, patience my friend. And do not get disappointed if you get skunked, it happened even to the best of the best. In any case good luck to you..
