Hi

I'm going fishing to French river tomorrow early morning. Renting a 15HP aluminum boat at the Marina located here:

I'm just starting out fishing, and love it so far.

I'm not sure what to use as bait on the french river? What do people fish for this time of the year, and what should I use?

Any particular spots on the river?

Thanks very much for your help.

Minnow - hook - small split shot. Simple always was really good at times due to high pressure. Spinnerbaits and jerkbaits around weeds and cover - points. Pike will eat that up. Minnow back hooked so it struggles for eyes. Start trolling with gold black back lures - rapala. Wallydivers same colour as it gets dark - Ox Bay look for structures theres lots. Jigs, twisters tipped with worm if no minnows. Experiment colours and they will tell u what they want. Hope this isn't to late for u.

Different regulations different spots - length so be sure what section your in before keeping any to eat.
