Is anybody fishing the ponds, or has all the attention shifted to salmon/steelhead? I want to go out and try a few again, if the weather will cooperate and if my wife will let me.

(I can already hear the "Waaaa Psssshh" from Rich...)

My attention has shifted to Lake Erie smallies and pike :) But I do plan on getting to the pond tomorrow afternoon for some crappie fishing.

PS: The obligatory "Wha-pssshhhh"!!

River reports will be coming soon Toober. Slabs should be in really soon, you will have to take a wee trip up the 404!!
:)

any info on where to catch some slabs with my GF? we took a trip up to canal lake twice and it sucked both times. :) I love crappie fishing, but maybe i should just hit the ponds till the season ends :)

Any of the rivers from Simocoe. Keswick, Inisfill,Barrie,Orillia. Find a marina,or bridge over the river and give it a shot.

i've been to keswick in the spring. it's literally shoulder to shoulder fishing. the fishing also really sucked, i was at the little park close to ravenshoe rd or something like that. must've went there like 3 times during the spring and caught like 5 tiny tiny crappies. how is the fishing there now? ahve you been nailing them?

I'm not sure about Keswick, but I remember years ago seeing a guy nailing crappie after crappie in Sutton on the north side of the bridge at the mouth of Black River.

As I said, this was years ago so you'd probably have to double check.

hmmm...black river huh?

never tried it, but cross it all the time when going north on 48. Is that the same river? From the highway, you can see a dam on the east side. I suppose it should empty out into Simcoe.

Black River maybe protected...just like the little gem the tablot river. You may be able to find some spots but look into it before wetting a line!
