Heya illestmp,

I'm still relatively new to it all myself, I mean I used to go a lot with my dad when I was a kid (25+ years ago). This is the 1st year I've gone and got my own license and I have to say its quite addictive and I friggin love it !! So I'm not sure how many tips I could give but I'm more than happy to share anything I know. Marita Payne is a great place to start learning, its pretty small but quite bio-diverse. I'm sure this is far too short notice although it was posted but me and Citybass will be there today and I'm hoping a few other people show up but either way we will be there. I'm going to be heading there within the hour and if yesterday is any indication we were there till about 3pm. I've got my phone with me so if you aren't sure send me a pm on here or respond to the thread and I'll get the email eventually.

Best of Luck & Happy Fishing !!

Well the rain cut out day short but we had a great day today. our goal was to get 10 LMB total and then whatever else bit. We didn't quite make our goal but we got darn near close the biggest LMB was 10" and about 1.5lbs...nothing to write home about but when you see the size of the storm pond its actually not too shabby. There are bigger ones and much bigger carp/catfish. Here's a few pictures of things that CityBass and myself caught this morning.

Here's a Panoramic shot of the entire pond... You can literally walk around the entire thing in a minute or three.

cool, but you should probably keep this pond a secret as many people in the area could start overfishing it, those largemouth seem quite small anyways but you can't catch much better from an inland urban area, especially in a pond of that size. Nice variety, I've yet to catch a sucker. I've caught bass around 13-14 inches and I usually assume they're around the 1-1.5 lbs. range, are you sure that 10 inch bass was 1.5 lbs? I base my weights off charts or tools online such as http://www.windycityfishing.com/bass_conversion_chart.htm or http://www.ontarioanglerawards.com/Weight.cfm
I'm just wondering so I could average the weight better of fish that I catch in the future.

Good Point...I always forget that while we have a great community its still got a wicked "secret society" thing going on. I'm always a catch and release kinda guy so I am a bit jaded in assuming that anyone fishing a small pond like this one would only do the same. Why ruin such a greatly bio-diverse area ?? As far as the weight of the bass, we had a scale and I may have been overzealous in saying that I'm fairly certain the biggest was 1.5. If Citybass checks in he could verify or tell me I'm a nut !

However taking what you have to say into account fisher, this will probably be on of my last posts about this...hopefully anyone that comes through will respect the pond and see it for the gem it is. There are other ponds around with even more bass/perch but we'll leave those as secret spots.

Thanks :D

ps: Nice links, they're now bookmarked... but nothing beats a tape measure and scale !!

Salmonfisher you can park on Clark there will be parking on the side of the road once you are west of dufferin then if u walk down the trail turn right and it will take u right around the pond

might be late but today around 6pm i was at g ross lord park and only caught a small sunfish lol, ofc i released but it was fun. anyone know what kind of lures i can use to get bass or carp?

Illestmp you should either use a spinner # 2 or a worm with bobber usually works but u have to go to the rocks below dam
