I went to a couple of creeks/rivers out east on Thursday and Saturday.

Thursday was okay, hooked into 3 fish, lost all, except my buddy caught his first brown and it was his first fish of the season. It was a nice 8-10 pound hen, obviously released. He got her on an egg imitation with his fly rod.

Saturday was horrible, I think I seen only ten fish all day, did not hook into a single fish. I went to a couple of different places. I fished roe, egg imitations, nymphs, wooly-buggers, etc. We did not get too many yet, wait until we get a nice heavy rainfall and the rivers are going to be full of fish and fisherman ;).

Keep me posted this week, I am planning on going this weekend. I need to get one already :/.

P.S

It is horrific to see that the creeks are full, I mean FULL of salmon cut open and left in the creeks. It is common to see this, but this early in the season? It ruins the creeks, makes the walk even worse and that smell...... The MNR have to be on a full 24-hour lookout during Loogan season.

the problem now is to many fisherman and all the fish that are there are from the last big rain and have seen so many lines, the big rain this morning will change your luck. remember when you change your bait change your float if your fishing a four gram float with a roe bag then switch to a egg pattern the four gram will not be sensitive enough. i also saw tones of fish that were gutted and thrown down the river, fortunately its better for the fish to rot in the river instead of in a garbage pail, the nutrients and bug life created from the dead salmon give the fry a head start

Happens every year - as early as the first fish pokes its snout into the mouth of a river.

Agreed 100% but makes for a disgusting environment to fish in. When will salmon season be over... :(

I try not to think about the snagging too much, cause then I just don't feel like salmon fishing. On the bright side, loogans don't do a lot of travelling so it's pretty easy to get away from them this time of year. Funny how when the salmon are gone they disappear as well.
