Anyone tried a drift/pontoon/float raft? Not exactly sure what you'd call it.Seen a fellow Friday morning flyfishing as he drifted. We chatted briefly as I had to run, he told me it only weighed 70lbs, he just throws it in his truck, you can anchor, put it up on shore and wade whenever you want. Nice area to keep your gear, he was casting an 8wt, seemed like a good way to get to cover a lot of water without bushwhacking.

BPS has them. They are not cheap, but convient for one person. Someone makes a 2 person model. Not really safe for rough waters. As long as it meets your needs of the areas you plan to fish then they are ok.

the one i would love to have in the future........ would be the one from the cabelas site, skykomish sunrise h20 pontoon.sell for around 1,200.00 so it's way off in the future, for now just a dream :)

I'm looking at the outcast raft style pontoon boat it's 3 person soft boat style there great in low fast water and for still water trout on some small ponds and rivers I know but it runs around 5400 dollars so a big Investment so maybe next year I have tried the one man ones but I like the 3 man for the simple fact I can bring friends if I want and I can carry more gear if need be

Only way to go IMO ....:cool:/>

^^now there is a post that actually contributes to the forum, lets see more of that!

I can't wait to get mine I'd get it this year but with a trip to Montana and what now looks like one to Vermont and some new rods and waders it just isnt In the budget this year unless I win some money

Hey Mad
wait for me to win the Max or 649, I'll get one for all of us.......lol. More rods? More? Holy crap how many more? Dont' you already have one of each wt there is already?.......lol.

my buddies and i have them. they are great. easy to pack up, and perfect for getting around on the river. i use mine for flyfishing for bass on the huge pond in my town too

I guess the inflatable pontoon boats are OK as long as you know the stretch of river you are on.... I'd hate to drift round the bend and find rapids especially when I was wearing chest waders!
