Fly Patterns

Rabbit strip flies are dead easy to tie, and I like the look of them in the water more than marabou. My usual standby is a variation on a Zonker Flesh Fly.
For the body I drill bigger holes in some beads, enough they can slip onto the hook and around the bend, tie in a rabbit strip, use a contrasting colour of marabou or polar bear hair for a wing. Use with a bead head on a jig hook if you want.

Now my favourite nymph pattern is a bit of a process, but a labour of love (or love/hate).
Take an iPhone that has been sacrificed to the river gods.

Bash the living hell out of it, this is the fun part.

Cherry pick the pieces and assemble with liberal use of cement & th'd, voila the iFly!

All the depth charts that I've seen peg the Whirlpool at 500ish

It's gotta be deeper than 125. Its 130 in the glen, I know that for sure. I've seen the screen of my fish finder

You make me wanna tie some of them up and go to Brazil for some electric eels....lol. With the caps on sticking out, it should make the eel think it's an electric fly.......lol. Send one to Jeremy Wade..........lol. If he uses it on his show you'll be famous.....LMAO.

I don't usually buy online, Bass Pro has a fly equipment department next to all the regular fishing equipment, also LeBarons right when you walk in the door. If you're only looking for the feathers what not, some art supply stores i.e. Michael's, have some feathers, beads.....etc. cheaper but also not as nice as BP or LeBaron.

This isnt an actual fly but still a good artificial bait for fly or float fishing. I got these salmonids last year and I got the idea to cut out the eggs and use them as single eggs. Havent tried them yet but I think they look pretty good. In the first pic the red hook is a #10 Daiichi Salmon egg hook and the silver is a #12 Kamasan grubber. In the second pic the red hook is a #14 raven and the silver is the same as the first pic.

Which do you think is best?

Sorry can't be specific as which flies this kit makes as I only noticed it on my way out as was running short on time.. Planned on going back myself for one.
Will post kit contents upon purchess.

My go-to flies. . .and also first ones to start tying is a pheasant tail nymph (never lets me down) with any fish lol. . .then prince nymph. . then many egg patterns . . mainly singles now. . cheese colour is awesome. Any opinions guys..

I hope you did'nt get yet. I bought one of their mid priced kits and the cam handle broke and the jaws are made with low grade steel. Check out this site:

Save your money and get a really good vise, it makes all the difference. I was in college with a complete machine shop and made my own. If I had to do it again I'd buy individually. You get what you paid for.
