Rabbit strip flies are dead easy to tie, and I like the look of them in the water more than marabou. My usual standby is a variation on a Zonker Flesh Fly.
For the body I drill bigger holes in some beads, enough they can slip onto the hook and around the bend, tie in a rabbit strip, use a contrasting colour of marabou or polar bear hair for a wing. Use with a bead head on a jig hook if you want.
Now my favourite nymph pattern is a bit of a process, but a labour of love (or love/hate).
Take an iPhone that has been sacrificed to the river gods.
Bash the living hell out of it, this is the fun part.
Cherry pick the pieces and assemble with liberal use of cement & th'd, voila the iFly!
