I have a couple of ounces of salmon roe bags left. Is it ok to throw them into the freezer for a few months?

i have done the same, few weeks back when i went to use them, some were no good, others were very loose but all in all they were still good enough for fishing.. i found that alot broke due to netting sticking to eggs when they were no longer frozen....
im thinking i should of wraped them in papper towel to insure they were dry before freezing......

they are very milky when u use them, only last a lil while tho...
i had used pro cure on them..

hey mikeh i have also but i did to make it hard more put it on mineral drinking water and put non iodize salt. leave it until they not floating when they float its ready take off the water dry them and freeze it and you got a preserve roe im doing it on my roe, all my old roe i did in that way dont unfreeze that on water unfreeze it naturally wait for 3 to 4 hours depends how many roe in bag. it will explode lolz it become useless i guaranty you it still smelly and it work on bows because im using it :) and its very good to tie because its hard enough i hope this may help you :)

I thaw/refreeze my roe bags each trip.

I slam fish on roe bags I tied 3 years ago (and have subsequently refroze at least 30 times) and they still work fine.

My roe bags were purchased retail as single eggs by the ounce. I made them into bags at home, sounds like they will be ok in the freezer.

i cured my roe with mineral water and salt put the roe in water with non iodize salt leave it for 2 or 3 hours and dry them with table tissue freeze them and when you need it unfreeze it and still good for long long time because its preserve here's my home made cured rainbow trout i just cured it today :) or stream hardening leave it for 15mins or more depends what hardening you want on roe i hope this may help you

Where did you get that roe at this time of year? I caught a nice hen that I kept for the table and it was all skeened up. That must have been a lake O hen, I knew the lake O Chinook eggs were orange, didnt realize the rainbow roe was orange too. I wonder what it is about Lake O that makes the roe orange.
