Hi all. I'm looking for some accommodation in the French River area for a couple of nights in August. The Bear's Den was recommended to me however when I called this week, they mentioned that rates (without meal plan and boat rental) was $210 per night. One of the members of our group will be bringing his son, so two night for them will be $840 just for the accommodation. I'm going to keep looking but wanted to get some suggestions from others on the board. We aren't looking for anything fancy, will bring our own food, but hoping for somewhere on the lake with boat rentals. Appreciate any advice!

I'm heading to the french for some back country camping and fishing next tues for five days. Taking my boat and just camping forget the expensive cottages this year.

I've done the cottage thing on the french and it can be expensive, real expensive.

All I can say is do not whatever you do stay here: http://www.bryerlodge.com/index.html

You can touch the cottage beside you. The deck broke on our first evening just gave way and all they did was tape it off. Our boat didn't come with a paddle and in order to get some help like gas etc was a mission.

May be worth checking out something like an Airbnb, Lots of stuff in the french river area for less then 300$ a night for full cottages... renting a boat would be as easy as going to frenchriverrentals... Just a thought

I was up in the French last weekend and stayed at Woseley bay lodge. Accommodations were decent enough,Price was very reasonable.
