Hey guys looked at mnr but am not 100% sure so hopefully someone can clarify? Is frenchmans bay zone 20 or 17? Wanna fish pike but donno if open. Thanks.

im pretty sure its whichever is open 24/7 cuz i was there last year in may and i was asking this guy if it was open and he said ya this is zone (??) and its open year around but double check on that

i would think its 20, but I've heard guys say that its 17, so don't take my word for it, id stop by at an mnr office if there is one near you, or just send them an email and ask.

I live almost beside it, it's Zone 20, Lake Ontario, because it's specifically mentioned in the Zone 20 regulations. But that doesn't mean that the same regulations apply. For instance, you are not allowed to have two lines in the water. The same goes for a number of other bays that are included in Zone 20. Make sure you read the regulations carefully.

From page 93:
All waters of Lake Ontario,
including the Niagara River
(downstream of Niagara Falls). The
following waters are excluded:
Jordan Harbour, Hamilton Harbour,
Toronto Harbour, Frenchman’s
Bay, Murray Canal, Presqu’ile Bay,
Weller’s Bay, East Lake, West Lake,
the Bay of Quinte (the waters lying
west of the Glenora Ferry), the St.
Lawrence River (waters lying east
of a line drawn between Bishops
Point and the easternmost tips of
Howe and Wolfe islands), and all
other tributaries to Lake Ontario.

Two lines may be used when angling
from a boat in open water.
It wouldn't be mentioned in that zone's regulations if it wasn't part of it.

He lied to you. Pike season was open the first Saturday in May, so he may not have been doing anything illegal, but he was wrong on it being open all year.

Not to contradict you but I don't think we missed much, super late start to the spawning this year so we should see lots of pike still in the shallows this year once season opens again. Been site fishing some local spots where I usually see them suspended and nothing yet. Haven't checked water temps though anyone have info on that?
