I finally got the opprotunity to get out and try out some still water fly fishing for bass/panfish.

After arriving at my spot, a secluded boat launch, I decided to try out the usual shore casting methods, wacky worms and hardbaits with no success. Time for the fly. I tied on several different flies with no luck, before deciding to go to the old trout standby, a beadhead hares ear nymph, after about 5 casts and letting it settle to bottom before stripping in some more line, success, little sunfish. Managed to get 3 of these little guys, and a perch before calling it a day when the ramp got too busy. Fun morning with pans!

Dawn or dusk, I love to get little pans on small caddis patterns. Awesome fun to watch them come up to grab your flies. If you use larger caddis, then you can use a dropper with a small nymph too.

Sounds like a fun way to pass a couple of hours. You're lucky to have water so close to you.

it was fun, living in whitby has it advantages for fishing waters, I have several nice lakes with in an hours drive, not to mention all the streams and creeks!
