Anyone happen to try these rods out? I know Loomis makes some great rods, but not sure how good this new entry level rod performs.

Actually, its Shimano, Gary Loomis sold it in 97. Still quality stuff, but not the same
What I meant was that the G. Loomis brand is quality stuff, I know that Shimano owns it now, but the rods under the Loomis name are quality.

I understood what you meant. And to be honest, I would rather spend less money on a veritas or mojo than any of the E6X or the GL2 Rods.

definitely this. or even the shimano crucial line

Im fishing 2 E6x's this year, I like them more then gl2s. From the shimano reps the e6x blank is nicer then the gl2 but the hardware in the E6x is cheaper, the blank on the gl2 is 10% lighter but to be honest with you it goes unnoticed once a reel is on the rod.

The models I am using are the 7' medium cranking rod (843c cbr) and the 6'10 dropshot (822s dsr), at that price point they are probably my favourite rod. I do like my ducketts though, mentioned above by flowerjohn.

Thanks for the replies. I actually have GL2 843 CBR already, it's a decent rod but I'm sure there's better rods in the price range now. I'm going to take a closer look at the E6X and crucials next time I'm in the shop. I may just get another Zodias lol, really nice rod.

I'm a brand loyalist lol, so prefer Shimano/GLoomis ;)

I hope it's better than the GL2, I'm not a fan of mine. Not sensitive and dull feeling. I also find it quite tip heavy. May have to try the Zodias though, I just googled it and it looks sweet.

Ya I'm more for a rod at a $100-$150 range, tons of great rods at that price point. I'd really like to try a Jackall Poison Adrena, but no way am I spending that money for one.

For me I can say that I would rather have a full line of veritas rods or St.Croix Rage rods(Same blank as the avid) and spend all my money on reels! The reels are where I truly see the biggest difference. PS I started power shotting around docks with a heavier casting rod and wow that is a cool way to catch them.
